Streetwear basics for men

Streetwear is built on relaxed shapes, a few pieces with a print or logo, and sneakers that get as much attention as the rest. It does not need to be loud. The outfits below are tagged as streetwear in the Moidello catalogue, with every piece tagged.

01

Relaxed or baggy jeans

The silhouette starts with the jeans. Relaxed, baggy and extra baggy cuts in washed denim set the proportions; the hem can stack a little on the shoe.

02

One logo or graphic piece

A printed T-shirt, an embroidered logo or a graphic jumper gives the outfit its focus. One is usually enough; two logos competing for attention look busy.

03

A hoodie or knit in the middle

A hoodie, a full-zip knit or a rollneck sits between the T-shirt and the jacket. Cashmere and wool versions make the outfit look more considered without changing its shape.

04

A jacket with character

A plaid wool jacket, a limewashed denim jacket or a western overshirt adds pattern or texture on top. Keep it plain if the T-shirt underneath is printed.

05

Caps and sneakers

A trucker or baseball cap and a pair of suede or court sneakers finish the look. Coloured suede is a good place for the outfit's one bright colour.

Questions

What is streetwear?

A casual style built on relaxed jeans and trousers, T-shirts, hoodies and sneakers, often with graphic or logo pieces. It grew out of skate, surf and music scenes.

What jeans fit is best for streetwear?

Relaxed, baggy or extra baggy fits. The wider leg balances boxy T-shirts, hoodies and jackets.

Can streetwear be minimal?

Yes. Plain heavyweight T-shirts, a solid hoodie, washed jeans and clean sneakers keep the shapes of streetwear without logos.

What shoes go with streetwear outfits?

Low suede sneakers, court sneakers and skate-style shoes. A coloured pair works well with otherwise neutral clothes.
